Ryan Moore, one of the world’s top jockeys, is all set for an exciting opening day at Glorious Goodwood 2025.

Fresh from an outstanding Royal Ascot campaign, where he was crowned leading rider for a 12th time, Moore now seeks to kickstart Goodwood with a 7-1 opening day double.

He will partner two strong contenders for trainer Aidan O’Brien: Dorset in the Coral Vintage Stakes (1:55) and Illinois in the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup (3:05).

Dorset is a €400,000 yearling by Wootton Bassett, from the family of Nassau Stakes winner Winter. He has shown great promise in his two starts so far. After finishing a close second on debut at the Curragh, he returned to the same track at the Irish Derby meeting, making all and winning impressively.

Ryan Moore says Dorset’s experience on a tricky track like Curragh will serve him well at Goodwood:

“He’s a lovely big two-year-old by Wootton Bassett. He ran very well in both starts over seven furlongs at the Curragh. He was second on debut and then won making all at the Irish Derby meeting, beating a subsequent winner. He’s stepping up in class here, but the two runs will help him, and he’s got a nice draw in stall two.”
